Sabina Machalova Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sabina Machalova, of the No. 6 Ole Miss women's tennis team, has been named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. Machalova shared Freshman of the Week honors with Florida's McCartney Kessler.
The third player in program history to earn Freshman of the Week honors more than once, Machalova previously earned the honor on March 28.
Machalova's Week in Review…
• Went 3-0 in singles and doubles to help the Rebels to a 2-0 weekend with wins against then-No. 7 Georgia and then-No. 31 Tennessee.
• Defeated No. 57 Kennedy Shaffer in three sets to set up her teammate for the match-clinching victory, which marked the Rebels first win against Georgia since 2010.
• Evened her record to 4-4 in the SEC and is now 17-10 overall.
• Teamed with Tea Jandric to clinch the doubles point against Tennessee, which helped the Rebels win their program-best sixth straight SEC match.
Up Next…
The Rebels conclude the regular season Friday at Mississippi State. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. from the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
