OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team is headed to the postseason for the first time in five years and the 10th time in school history.
The Rebels earned the No. 10 seed in the NCAA West Regional, hosted by Stanford, and will play at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco on May 7-9. The NCAA bid marks the latest achievement in a monumental season for the program.
"It means everything," said head coach Kory Henkes. "We've been working so hard to get to this point to have a chance to play for a national championship. It shows that all of the hard work and determination that the girls are putting in day in and day out is really starting to pay off. It's a big credit to all of our staff at every different level for helping us get there."
Ole Miss has never played in the West Regional, having earned seven berths in the East and two in the Central Regional.
Several familiar foes will greet Henkes and Co. out west. The Rebels have previously crossed paths with South Carolina, Kent State, North Carolina, Louisville, NC State, Princeton, Oregon, Long Beach State and Grand Canyon.
TPC Harding Park has played host to several PGA Tour events, including the President's Cup, the WGC-American Express Championship and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
The top six teams that can best traverse TPC Harding Park will advance to the NCAA Championships at Oklahoma State's Karsten Creek Golf Club on May 18-23.
"We've played against a lot of these teams already and have been close to some teams and have had success against others," Henkes said. "Golf is a crazy sport. It could be anyone's week, so we just have to play the course. It's an amazing golf course. We're really excited to get the chance to play there and just have a chance to compete and make it to the next level and play for a national championship."
