OXFORD, Miss. -- They say time flies when you're having fun. It seems like just yesterday Ole Miss men's tennis seniors Zvonimir Babic, Grey Hamilton and Gustav Hansson were stepping on the courts at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center for the first time, and Sunday, they will play their final home match for the Rebels.
It's a big one against the arch-rival, No.7 ranked Mississippi State, and the team's annual Crawfish Extravaganza. Fans can enjoy free crawfish and watch the Rebels try to make it three in a row against the Bulldogs.
Babic, Hamilton and Hansson have helped lead the Rebels to three NCAA appearances, including a final ranking of No. 17 in 2015. Off the court, all three have been outstanding, helping the Rebels receive the prestigious ITA All-Academic Team Award twice.
As their careers wind down, we take a look back at some of their highlights and hear from all three on their time at Ole Miss and what the future holds.
Zvonimir Babic - Zagreb, Croatia
• Team captain
• Career-high No. 69 ranking in singles and No. 6 in doubles
• Qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship twice
• Became the seventh freshman to qualify for the NCAA Championships in either singles or doubles
• Teamed with Filip Kraljevic to capture the ITA Southern Regional Doubles Championship and earned a bid to the ITA Fall National Championships
• SEC Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the Year Finalist
• Three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete
• Three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll
Grey Hamilton - Southern Pines, North Carolina
• Nationally-ranked in doubles with two different partners and ended the 2017 season ranked No. 20 in the nation
• NCAA Doubles Championship participant in 2017
• 2016 ITA Southern Regional Doubles Champion
• Clinched the team's 24th consecutive NCAA first round win in 2017
• Clinched wins over Texas A&M and Auburn last year and won a big match at Mississippi State to help the Rebels win their second straight against the Bulldogs
• Two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete
• Three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll
Gustav Hansson- Karlskrona, Sweden
• All-American
• Three-time All-SEC
• Career-high national ranking of No. 14 in singles
• NCAA Singles Championship participant twice, including reaching the round of 16 in 2016
• Has clinched eight wins in his career, including twice against Baylor
• Became the 12th player in program history to earn All-SEC honors three years
• Two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete
• Three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll
