Eight Rebels Named USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS
- Eight Ole Miss track & field student-athletes have received honors as part of the 2018 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team, the association announced Thursday morning.


A total of 1,498 Division I student-athletes earned the distinction, with 874 women's recipients and 624 men's honorees. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and completed at least one of the following two accomplishments during the 2018 season: either finish the indoor season ranked in the top-96 in an individual event (or top-48 in a relay event); or, compete at any round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships (including the East and West preliminary rounds).


Sophomore Fraquan Gaines (3.50, General Studies), graduate student Cullen Prena (3.55, MBA) and freshman John Rivera Jr. (3.52, Computer Science) were named men's honorees, while senior Emily Bean (3.42, Exercise Science), sophomore Kendall Chavarria (3.36, Sport & Recreation Administration), freshman Clio Ozanne-Jaques (3.62, Undecided), sophomore Kaira Simmons (3.59, Criminal Justice) and freshman Lisa Vogelgesang (3.27, Undecided) were named to the women's team.


Men's All-Academic Honorees:

Cullen Prena - 3.55, Master's of Business Administration

John Rivera Jr. - 3.52, Computer Science


Women's All-Academic Honorees:

Emily Bean - 3.42, Exercise Science
