Rebels Ready for Final Noncon Weekend at Rice

• Ole Miss snapped its eight-game win streak Tuesday, falling in five sets to border rival Memphis.

• Emily Stroup also chipped in 12 digs Tuesday, registering her conference-leading sixth double-double. Jordan Fate ranks second in the statistic, currently with five.
• The last time the Rebels were in the Lone Star state, they picked up a 3-1 victory over conference foe Texas A&M.
• The Rebels also snapped a 14-set winning streak dating back to Sept. 1 and the fifth set over Southern Miss.
• Last weekend, Ole Miss swept the Georgia State Invitational, picking up straight set victories over Chicago State, Sam Houston State, and Georgia State.
• In the match against Sam Houston State, Ole Miss limited the Bearkats to just six total points, the second fewest ever allowed during head coach Steven McRoberts tenure (2014-present). The squad delivered back-to-back season-best hitting efficiencies, finishing the weekend on a .355 clip.
• Ole Miss is 10-4 all-time against their three opponents this weekend, but are 3-0 under McRoberts, with a sweep last year over Austin Peay and two victories over McNeese State.
• This is the final nonconference weekend for the Rebels before beginning SEC play, where they'll head to Gainesville to take on Florida, who played in the national title game a year ago.
Scouting Austin Peay
The Governors enter the weekend at 8-1, winning their last two contests with sweeps over Alabama A&M and Evansville. Senior Kristin Stucker ranks 13th in the nation with 11.65 assists per set. Last weekend, junior libero Ginny Gering joined the 1,000 career dig club, currently boasting 64. Offensively, senior Cecily Gable tops the squad with 109 kills.
Ole Miss is 3-0 all-time against Austin Peay, while 1-0 with McRoberts after a sweep last season.
Scouting Rice
The Owls are 6-4 on the young season, most recently dropping 3-1 contests to Stephen F. Austin and No. 15 Baylor. Rice ranks seventh in the country with 710 digs, and ninth in digs per set at 18.2, led by junior libero Lee Ann Cunningham, who ranks19th in the NCAA with 195 total digs. Sophomore Nicole Lennan leads the Owls with 141 slams, and junior Morgan Grace tops the team defensively with 48 total blocks.
Ole Miss and Rice at tied at 4-4 in the all-time series, and have not faced since Coach McRoberts took the helm. The Rebels last defeated the Owls in 2012, a sweep in Oxford.
Scouting McNeese State
The Cowgirls are coming off their first victory in 11 contests, picking up a sweep over Southern Wednesday evening. Junior Keegan Nelms tops the team with 83 kills and 70 digs.
The Rebels are 3-0 all-time against McNeese, and have won twice under McRoberts, most recently earning a sweep in 2016.
