9/28/2018 | Women's Basketball
Salter Hails from Tallahassee, Florida
OXFORD, Miss. – In the second part of our #FreshFaceFriday series for the 2018-19 Ole Miss Women's Basketball team, we get to know redshirt senior forward La'Karis Salter.
#33 La'Karis Salter
Forward
Tallahassee, Fla. // Florida A&M Development
Quick Fact: Was a four-star prospect who rated No. 89 nationally and No. 18 at the forward position by ESPN/HoopGurlz.
ON HER EARLIEST BASKETBALL MEMORY
"My earliest memory of basketball was my first game in middle school. I had every part of my body taped, like my wrist was taped and my ankle was taped. I wore a headband because I felt like I saw all of the basketball players do it. So that was my earliest memory playing basketball."
ON HER GAME
"My uncle taught me how to shoot and my coaches did too. As I got older and into college I kind of modeled my game after Danielle Adams."
ON COACH YO
"The first time I met Coach Yo was at Jacksonville. She really surprised me with how short she was. She was funny, she was loving, she was caring, and I knew right away that she had a good vibe about her and that what she said was serious. Every promise that she has made, she has kept. She is a woman of her word and if she says 100 of 100 she really means it."
ON BEING AT OLE MISS
"The facilities here, they are great. I love it. I love being here. I just love being an Ole Miss Rebel to tell you the truth. My first month being on campus, everything about it was great. It was new, I love it. It's a small town, a college town, and everyone supports you. The community is great, it's safe. I have fun. You go somewhere, they are waving and smiling and it makes you feel good, having a home away from home."
