Rebels Fall Short to Indiana in ITA Kick-Off Finale

Hoosiers claim consolation match 4-2
LOS ANGELES – The Ole Miss Men's Tennis squad fell to Indiana in the consolation match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, 4-2, Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The Rebels (2-3) picked up the doubles point, but were pushed back by the Hoosiers (3-2) in the singles competition.
Senior Fabian Fallert and sophomore Cotter Wilson roared out to a commanding 6-0 decision to begin the evening. Freshmen pair Jan Soren Hain and Simon Junk followed with a 6-3 display. Upperclassmen Filip Kraljevic and Tim Sandkaulen were locked in a 4-5 battle when the doubles point was clinched.
Indiana took control of the match with three straight singles wins to go up 3-1. Wilson, Junk and Sandkaulen were defeated without picking up a set.
A comeback push began with Fallert dispatching Brandon Lam in similar fashion 6-3, 7-5. Kraljevic battled 96th ranked Bennett Crane tooth and nail, but could not complete their competition before the match was clinched. The pair split the first two sets and were headed for a third set tiebreak.
No. 110 Zac Brodney took Soren Hain the distance for the clinching point 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-2.
