Volleyball Receiving Votes in AVCA Top 25 Poll

10/14/2019 | Volleyball

The Rebels appear in the poll for the first time since 2007

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Fresh off a week that saw Ole Miss Volleyball extend its win streak to 13 games, upset No. 22 Missouri on the road, and improve to 5-0 in league play, the team enters the week in unchartered territory, receiving votes in the latest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 rankings.

Ole Miss appears in the polls for the first time since 2007, a squad that finished 25-8 and made its second consecutive NCAA berth.

The Rebels remain the only undefeated team in the SEC and sit atop the league standings, joining league mates Florida (#13), Kentucky (#16), and Missouri (#25). Georgia also turned in an upset, taking down Kentucky for its first SEC loss since 2017, to also receive votes.

"It is nice to be recognized by voters for the great start to our season. Our players have put in a lot of hard work to get to this point," head coach Steven McRoberts said. "They also know we have a long way to go, and hopefully we are still getting votes in December."

UP NEXT
Following a stint that saw 11 of 12 matches on the road for Ole Miss before Sunday's homecoming, the Rebels remain at home, welcoming Arkansas and Texas A&M for a weekend in Gillom. Friday's contest will be nationally televised on the SEC Network.
