Warnell Claims Second SEC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

The 2019 squad has now garnered the most weekly awards in program history
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- After helping guide Ole Miss Volleyball to its best start ever in league play and a 13-match winning streak, senior Nayo Warnell has been crowned SEC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Warnell takes home the title for the second time this season, earning the plaudit after taking home tournament MVP honors during Week 3 of the season in September. It is the third weekly honor of her career, garnering a SEC Defensive Player of the Week nod during the 2017 campaign.
Warnell's award marks the sixth time this season the Rebels have earned a weekly honor, the most ever for a team in a single season.
The veteran middle blocker was flawless across all seven sets for the Rebels, leading the squad with 11 in Sunday's sweep of Auburn, their first of SEC play this season, and registered six on a .462 clip in Wednesday's 3-1 upset at No. 22 Missouri.
She finished the week with 17 kills on a .500 hitting efficiency, a statistic she leads the league in and ranks 12thnationally in at .424. She has tallied ten games hitting over .500, and averaged nearly two and a half kills per set at 2.43, also posting three aces and five blocks on the week.
The Dickinson, Texas native was critical to the Rebels' upset victory Wednesday, tallying two kills to bring the Rebels to match point twice in the final frame. She also delivered the decisive kill on Sunday's contest, and ranks third on the squad with 115 total kills this season. Her .424 efficiency is on track to break the single-season record (2010, All-American Regina Thomas).

Warnell and the Rebels remain at home, welcoming Arkansas and Texas A&M for a weekend in Gillom. Friday's contest will be nationally televised on the SEC Network.
