Rebels to Host UConn Next Season, Schedule Boilermakers in 2033, 2034
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss has made a change to its 2020 football schedule and has also agreed to a home-and-home series partnership with a Power 5 opponent, it was announced Thursday.
UConn, which will begin playing as a football independent in 2020, will visit Oxford on Oct. 24 next season, a date originally scheduled to feature a matchup against Middle Tennessee. The Rebels and Blue Raiders will now face off on Sept. 7, 2024, in a home contest for Ole Miss.
It will be the first-ever meeting between Ole Miss and UConn on the football field.
Ole Miss has also agreed to a home-and-home series partnership with Purdue beginning in 2033.
The Big Ten opponent visits Ole Miss in 2033 (Sept. 10), followed by a rematch the following season as the Rebels make the trip to West Lafayette, Indiana, in 2034 (Sept. 9).
Purdue and Ole Miss have only faced each other once with a 27-7 Boilermaker victory in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1929. The last present-day Big Ten school to visit Oxford was in 1952 when the Rebels defeated Maryland, 21-14, at Hemingway Stadium.
