Rebel Quartet Heads to ITA All-Americans

Ole Miss will send four to Tulsa for the All-American Championships

OXFORD, Miss. – The first national event of the season begins this weekend for collegiate tennis, and the Ole Miss squad will send a quartet of Rebels into competition at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. 
 
The 17th-ranked duo of senior Alexa Bortles and junior Sabina Machalova  lead the way, earning a berth in the main draw doubles. Machalova will also compete in the qualifying round of singles, joined by senior teammates Anna Vrbenska and Tereza Janatova, who swing first in the singles prequalifying and then again as a pair in qualifying doubles action.
 
The event returns to Tulsa, who has hosted the men's event for 14 consecutive seasons, after being held in Pepperdine, Calif., for the women last fall. Prequalifying lasts through October 5-6, followed by qualifying October 7-8, and main draw matches transpiring from October 9-13. All matches will be held at the University of Tulsa-LaFortune Tennis Center and the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. 
 
In addition to vying for the All-American title, the Rebels will each be competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, taking place Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.  Single quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of the fall national championship.
