Janatova Advances to Sunday Consolations at All-Americans

Fellow senior Anna Vrbenska split the day, going 1-1 in prequalifying
TULSA, Okla. – A duo of Ole Miss Women's Tennis seniors opened play at the All-American Championships Saturday, as Anna Vrbenska and Tereza Janatova each competed in the prequalifying rounds of singles action.
Vrbenska advanced to the second round after an opening victory over Margot Decker of Kansas State. Vrbenska made swift work in the first set, surrendering just one game, and then triumphed through the second 7-5 to advance.
Her journey ended in round 2, as she split sets with Anastasia Smirnova of Rice, going 3-6, 6-4, before ultimately falling in the tiebreaker 7-1.
Classmate Tereza Janatova also dropped a grueling three-setter, after owning an advantage with a 7-5 first set before falling in identical 3-6 decisions.
Janatova's journey will continue in consolation play, where she will take on Mimi Kendall-Woseley of Houston Sunday at 11 a.m.
The pair will also compete in the qualifying rounds of doubles action, where they'll hope to join teammates Sabina Machalova and Alexa Bortles, who compete later in the tournament in the main doubles draw.
