Men's Tennis All-American Mondays: Part 7

Part 7A of a seven-part series paying tribute to the rich history of Ole Miss Men's Tennis and their wealth of All-American honors since the program's inception in the late 1920s. Ole Miss has produced 29 All-Americans and garnered a total of 48 All-American honors, including three national champions. Each week without competition, olemisssports.com will look back at these individuals and their incredible accomplishments during their time in Oxford. 

CHRIS THIEMANN; 2012
Chris Thiemann became the 27th All-American in the history of the program, teaming with his brother, Marcel Thiemann, to advance to the NCAA Final Four in doubles.  He ended the year ranked No. 11 nationally in doubles and helped lead the Rebels to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the 16th time.  Teamed with his brother to clinch the doubles point against Michigan which proved huge in the Rebels' 4-2 win to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.   Chris posted an 11-11 overall singles record and went 19-7 in doubles with his brother, Marcel, including 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.  The duo captured the SEC Indoor Doubles Championship.  

Off the court, Chris was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll  three times, an ITA Scholar-Athlete twice and a member of the University Honor Roll every semester.  He graduated from the University of Mississippi in May of 2012 with a degree in Managerial Finance and earned his MBA in 2013. In May of 2015, Chris received his Masters in Accountancy.

MARCEL THIEMANN; 2010, 2011, 2012
In 2012, Marcel Thiemann became the fourth player in Ole Miss men's tennis history to earn All-America honors three times.   Thiemann also became the third player to earn All-SEC  first team honors three years.  

Thiemann helped lead the Rebels to their 19th consecutive NCAA appearance and the program's 16th Sweet Sixteen showing.  He ended his career ranked No. 22 in singles and No. 11 in doubles, with his brother Chris Thiemann.  The duo the made the finals of the 2011 ITA National Indoor, won the 2012 SEC Indoor Championship, and capped a great career reaching the NCAA Final Four in doubles.   

In 2011, Thiemann helped lead the Rebels to the NCAA Championships and earned All-SEC first team honors.  He finished the year ranked No. 29 in the nation in singles and No. 11 in doubles with his brother, Chris Thiemann.

For the second year in a row, Marcel was one of only nine Division I players to earn All-America honors and be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Thiemann became the 25th All-American in the history of the program in 2010 reaching the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals.  He also participated in the NCAA Doubles Championship  with his brother.  Thiemann ended the year ranked No. 19 in the nation in singles and No. 24 in doubles.  Thiemann earned All-SEC first team honors helping lead the Rebels to their ninth consecutive SEC West Championship and the SEC Tournament semifinals.  He was named to the first ever SEC All-Tournament Team.  

Playing No. 1 singles, Thiemann posted a 15-8 record including five top 25 wins. He teamed with his brother for a 10-1 record in the SEC at No. 1 doubles.

Thiemann was one of just five players in the nation to earn All-America honors and be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.  

In 2009, Thiemann helped lead the Rebels to the SEC regular season title and an undefeated league record.  He went 3-0 to help lead the Rebels to their second consecutive SEC Tournament Championship.  Thiemann was named the SEC Freshman of the Week twice as the Rebels won their eighth straight SEC West title.

Thiemann graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2012 with a degree in Managerial Finance. He earned an MBA in 2013 and a Masters in Accountancy. in 2015.
