OXFORD, Miss. โย Ole Miss Volleyball head coach Steven McRoberts announced his Class of 2020 last week during National Signing Day, welcoming five additions to the Rebel roster next fall.ย

Each day, olemisssports.com will introduce a new member of the 2020 squad. The recruiting class includes multiple national and high school champions, two Top 100 senior aces according to PrepVolleyball.com, and numerous regional and state honors.

Two of the new Rebels, outside hitters GG Carvacho and Samantha Schnitta, will join the squad next semester, with the other three- Emily Hawes, Amber Bischel, and Payton Brgoch- arriving in Oxford next fall.ย

Today we meet the final member of the recruiting class, right side Samantha Schnitta.ย

SAMANTHA SCHNITTA
Right Side | 6'1 | Overland Park, Kansas | Blue Valley Southwest High School
Schnitta concluded her four-year career with the Timberwolves at Blue Valley Southwest High as theย ย school record holder in kills (season and career), career total blocks, hitting percentage, career digs, and also set season and career records with service aces.ย
ย
A two-time second-team All-American by PrepVolleyball.com, Samantha was also honored as a Soph 79 and Senior Ace selection and named a 2019 Under Armor Preseason honoree. A three-year captain at Blue Valley Southwest, Samantha also helped lead the Mavs KC club squad to Girls Junior National Championship in 2018 and runner-up status in 2017.ย

Other accolades for Schnitta include two second-team all-state and first-team all-league plaudits and being chosen as a Missouri/Kansas State All-Star selection. She was a state finalist in the javelin event for BVSHS in both 2018 and 2019, and is a second-generation Rebel, as mom Kate (Ditolla, 89-92) also played volleyball for Ole Miss and father Brian played football. Kate was an All-SEC Second Team selection during her senior season.ย

Coach McRoberts on Samantha:ย "When I think about Samantha and recruiting her, something that has stood out from the very beginning is Samantha is a true competitor. Along with her great skill set, we just see her as a leaderโฆ someone that just hates to lose, and that's something we really, really like about herโฆ We are really excited to add her to our roster and get to work right away."
