Rebels eye 21st NCAA Tournament appearance this spring
OXFORD, Miss. –Another exciting and challenging schedule awaits the Ole Miss women's tennis team this upcoming spring, as head coach Mark Beyers and his staff revealed Friday.
The Rebels will look to return to the NCAA Tournament and make nationals for the 21st time in school history. Ole Miss will face at least four non-conference teams that qualified in 2019, as well as eight SEC national qualifiers.
SEC home matches will begin at 3 p.m. on Fridays and 1 p.m. on Sundays. The rest of the times will be announced in the coming weeks but are subject to change.
Ole Miss begins 2020 by hosting a doubleheader with Memphis and UT Martin on Jan. 20.
The Rebels will then head to the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend to face host and No. 16 national seed Michigan in a rematch of 2019. Ole Miss then faces either UCF or Utah the following day, with the winner of two matches earning the right to compete at the National Indoor Championships, Feb. 7-10, in Orlando, Florida.
Ole Miss will host a tandem of Big-12 teams on back-to-back days. National qualifier Texas Tech invades on Jan. 31, while Baylor competes on Feb. 1 in Oxford.
The Rebels will have another rematch from a season ago when the team treks to yet another national qualifier in UCF on Feb. 21. Arkansas then welcomes in the Rebels on Feb. 28 to open SEC play.
Three SEC squads then make the trip to Oxford as Ole Miss hosts Kentucky (March 1), Georgia (March 6), and Tennessee (March 8) in the span of a week.
The middle of March will see the Rebels become road warriors when the team treks to LSU (March 13), Texas A&M (March 15), Alabama (March 19) and Auburn (March 21).
The squad will next look to avenge its elimination in the 2019 SEC Tournament, as the Rebels host the Gators on March 26. Two days later, Ole Miss will battle another perennial power in South Carolina in Oxford.
The SEC schedule winds down with the Rebels traveling to rival Mississippi State (April 3), returning home to face Vanderbilt (April 9), and conclude the regular season at Missouri (April 11).
Postseason play begins at the SEC Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which runs from April 15-19. The Rebels will then await the announcement of the 64-team field of the NCAA Regionals, which begin May 1-2.
A full promotional schedule will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
