Sabina Machalova Advances to UNLV Rebel Invite Finals

Ole Miss Junior Will Look to End Fall Season with a Title on Sunday
LAS VEGAS – Junior Sabina Machalova advanced to the finals of her singles draw at the Rebel Tennis Women's Invitational, hosted by UNLV on Saturday.
Machalova, the No. 56 ITA ranked student-athlete, beat Vasiliki Karvouni of Kansas in two sets. The Rebel product made quick work of the first set, winning 6-0. She finished off the match with a 7-5 winner in the second.
The No. 17 ranked doubles duo of Machalova and veteran Alexa Bortles rebounded after Friday's loss with an 8-7 victory over Karvouni and Kansas teammate Carmen Manu in a consolation match.
Bortles and fellow senior Tereza Janatova each fell in their own singles draw semifinals to Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Bortles was beaten by Gia Cohen, 6-3, 6-4, while Janatova was defeated at the hands of No. 10 Kenya Jones, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Machalova will begin her finals match against Jones at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday. Consolation matches are scheduled to follow.
