Rebel Men Rank No. 21 in Week 6 USTFCCCA Rankings

NCAA Indoor Championships Will Run March 8-9 in Birmingham, Alabama
NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss men's track & field remained within the national rankings, coming in at No. 21 in the Week 6 USTFCCCA National Rating Index released by the coaches association on Monday.
The Rebels have now been in the top-25 for three straight weeks after entering the rankings in week four by jumping up an NCAA-best 74 spots to No. 18. The Rebels entered last week ranked 19th and now stand at No. 21, despite a productive week at the SEC Championships this past weekend that saw the Rebels win two event titles.
Waleed Suliman, fresh off his first SEC title in the mile, leads the way for Ole Miss with 19.20 points in the mile and 0.02 points in the 800-Meter. The sophomore ran the second fastest mile in the NCAA (3:58.55) at the David Hemery Valentine Invite at Boston University on Feb. 9.
Ole Miss also won the distance medley relay event championship at the SEC Indoor Championships. However, the team's fastest DMR time came on Feb. 15 at the JDL DMR Invitational. The team consisted of Suliman, junior James Burnett, sophomore John Rivera Jr. and senior Derek Gutierrez running what is currently the third-best DMR time in the NCAA at 9:34.43 (which converts down to 9:26.74 when accounting for track size). Their time is currently contributing 17.80 points toward the 40.20 total for the Rebel men in the rating index.
Gutierrez also ranks No. 16 in the mile, earning 1.84 points for Ole Miss. At the David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 9, the senior became the third Rebel to break the four-minute barrier in the mile (3:58.55).
Allen Gordon, who finished third in the long jump at the SEC Indoor Championship, is currently ranked 21st in the NCAA in both the high jump and the long jump. His best long jump (7.76m/25-05.50) is currently worth 0.72 points, while his best high jump (2.19m/7-02.25) has 0.63 points.
