Men’s Tennis rookie Karlo Kranic dubbed for the second time this season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --  Riding a four-match win streak in singles play, Ole Miss Men's Tennis rookie Karlo Kranic has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday morning.

Kranic claims the award for the second time this season, the third Rebel in program history to win Freshman of the Week twice in the same season.  Current assistant coach Devin Britton and his classmate Marcel Thiemann each won on two separate occasions in 2009.

The Osijek, Croatia, product tallied three wins on the weekend, guiding Ole Miss to their first and second wins in conference play. He first defeated Auburn's Brandon Laubser, who has spent some time in the ITA singles rankings this season, prevailing in a 7-5 tiebreaker to set up his classmate for the eventual Rebels' victory. He and sophomore partner Finn Reynolds also registered a critical win against the Tigers in doubles on Thursday.

He then dominated in his matchup at then-No. 18 Alabama, turning in the Rebs' first point of the match en route to a 4-3 upset over the Tide for the second time this season.

Kranic boasts an SEC record of 4-2 in singles play and has now recorded two four-match win streaks this spring.

Ole Miss continues conference play this weekend, hosting No. 22 Georgia and No. 19 Tennessee at Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
