Freshman Finished 33rd, Pacing Rebels in South Carolina

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss men's golfer Jackson Suber has been named SEC Freshman of the Week for his performance at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Suber led the Rebels with a 2-over 218 (70-73-75), the second time he has paced the team this season. This marks the third time an Ole Miss golfer has earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors this spring as Sarut Vongchaisit collected the accolade in back-to-back weeks.

The freshman went 4-under on the par 4's throughout the week to finish fourth in par-4 scoring. He birdied a team-high 13 holes over the three-rounds, the fourth-most in the 75-man field. The Tampa, Florida, native posted the best 54-hole total among SEC freshmen in the field as four SEC teams competed in the event.

In his first season as a Rebel, Suber has competed in all nine tournaments. His stroke average of 72.80 ranks second on the team. He has three top-10 finishes to his credit, including a runner-up showing in his debut at the Ocean Course Invitational.

Suber and the Rebels return to the course on April 15-16, for the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in West Point, Mississippi, the final tune-up before the SEC Championship (April 24-28).
