Seniors Shine in Final SEC Home Match, Rebels Down Arkansas 4-3

Veterans Fabian Fallert and Filip Kraljevic provide critical victories Thursday
OXFORD, Miss. -- Thursday marked a fitting finish for Ole Miss Men's Tennis seniors Fabian Fallert and Filip Kraljevic, who provided the spark for the Rebels in the final SEC home match of their careers at Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, downing Arkansas 4-3.
Ole Miss relied on its pair of veterans for some spark, as Kraljevic picked up the first point for the Rebels and Fallert, for the fifth time this season, provided the clincher.
For the first time in four successive matches, the Rebels had to play from behind, dropping the doubles point, despite the duo of junior Tim Sandkaulen and sophomore Finn Reynolds leading 5-3 when the point was clinched.
After falling behind 0-2 to begin singles play, Kraljevic powered through, taking six straight contests to pick up the advantage in the opening set 6-2. He continued to carry momentum, controlling the second set to a 6-3 decision and handing the Rebels their first point of the match.
His classmate followed with an identical opening decision, but faltered in the second set.
Meanwhile, on Court 1, Sandkaulen endured a back-and-forth affair through the first 10 games, reaching a 5-5 stalemate before finding momentum, picking up the final two games, including not surrendering a point to take the first set 7-5. He commanded the second set, prevailing at deuce point on an overhead volley to put Ole Miss in control 2-1.
The Razorbacks quickly tied things once again with a win on Court 5, bringing the match back to a 2-2 stall.
After splitting their first two sets, both Fallert and freshman Simon Junk controlled their third. Junk went on a 5-0 run, while Fallert started his third on a two-game lead.
Junk continued to play with the upperhand, putting the Rebels a point away and setting up Fallert for the clincher.
A battle also ensued on Court 3, as freshman Karlo Kranic triumphed from a 7-4 tiebreaker to force a third set before retiring shortly after the match was clinched.
