Senior Honored After Prolific Week at the Plate
OXFORD, Miss. – For the second time in her career, senior outfielder Kylan Becker has been named the SEC Player of the Week after helping lead the Rebels to a five-game winning streak. Becker becomes the first field player at Ole Miss to receive player of the week laurels since she and Elantra Cox were recognized in 2017.
The Miami native was on fire during the week, batting .647 with a double, a triple, a home run, seven runs scored and seven more driven in. Becker also drew a pair of walks and stole five bases, finishing with an OBP of .684 and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
The speedy leadoff hitter got the week started with a bang, torching Central Arkansas in Ole Miss' 18-3 victory. Becker finished the game 4-for-5 at the dish, scoring and driving home four runs each. The slapper even showed off her power, clobbering the third homer of her career and just the second to leave the park.
Becker stayed hot in Ole Miss' home opener at the Ole Miss Classic against Nicholls, registering a pair of hits and posting three more RBIs. By the time the week was over, the senior had tallied multiple hits in 4-of-5 games, extending her team-high reached base streak to 18 games.
Becker and the Rebels will look to stay hot with four home games this week. The Rebels will host Austin Peay for a midweek battle at the Ole Miss Softball Complex on Wednesday before opening up SEC play Saturday through Monday against Arkansas. Both the Sunday and Monday contests with the Razorbacks will be broadcasted on national television on the SEC Network.
