NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss men's track & field moved up to No. 19 in the final USTFCCCA National Rating Index before the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend.

The Rebels have now been in the top-25 for four straight weeks after entering the rankings in Week Four by jumping up an NCAA-best 74 spots to No. 18.

Waleed Suliman leads the way for Ole Miss with 20.06 points in the mile. The sophomore ran the second fastest mile in the NCAA (3:58.55) at the David Hemery Valentine Invite at Boston University on Feb. 9. He also won the mile at the SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 23, making Ole Miss the first school in SEC history to win five consecutive men's mile titles.

Ole Miss also won the men's distance medley relay at the conference meet. However, the team's fastest DMR time came on Feb. 15 at the JDL DMR Invitational. The team consisted of Suliman, junior James Burnett, sophomore John Rivera Jr. and senior Derek Gutierrez running what is currently the third-best DMR time in the NCAA at 9:34.43 (which converts down to 9:26.74 when accounting for track size). Their time is currently contributing 18.01 points toward the 44.02 total for the Rebel men in the rating index.

Gutierrez also ranks No. 11 in the mile, earning 5.95 points for Ole Miss. At the David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 9, the senior became the third Rebel to break the four-minute barrier in the mile (3:58.55).
