Rebel Center Fielder Recognized for Excellence on the Field and in the Classroom
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss senior Kylan Becker has been named one of 13 members of the Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Team, announced by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
The Miami native becomes the first Rebel to receive academic all-district laurels since Miranda Strother in 2017 and just the second Rebel to garner the distinction since 2011.
The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
Becker is one of two SEC players named to the District 6 team, joining Missouri's Kara Decker. District 6 is made up of the Division I institutions in Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The speedy Rebel center fielder has earned a 3.54 cumulative GPA while majoring in Exercise Science.
Becker, a 2019 First Team All-SEC standout, leads Ole Miss in nearly every offensive category, ranking second in the SEC with a .411 batting average. She has scored 48 runs and driven in 26 more on the season, showing off some power with three doubles, one homer and an Ole Miss single-season record seven triples.
