Becker and Chastain Named to First Team, Entire Coaching Staff Honored
OXFORD, Miss. – On Wednesday, Softball America release its first-ever All-America teams, with Rebel outfielder Kylan Becker and all four members of the Ole Miss coaching staff receiving the exclusive distinction.
Becker is among a group of four elite outfielders to be selected First Team All-American honores, joining Florida's Amanda Lorenz, UCLA's Bubba Nickles and Arizona's Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza. The Rebel center fielder leads the group with a .428 batting average.
Becker isn't the only Rebel to appear on the First Team, with Ole Miss assistant coach Ashley Chastain garnering the pitching coach slot after building a relatively inexperienced group of pitchers into one of the top staffs in the SEC.
In fact, having taken a team picked to finish 12th in the conference to the program's highest-ever SEC finish and just the second NCAA Super Regional in school-history, the entire Ole Miss coaching staff received All-American laurels. Landing on the Third Team were head coach Mike Smith, associate head coach Ruben Felix and volunteer assistant coach Caty Reeves.
