Rebel Golf Duo Posts Top-15 Finishes in 104th Mississippi Am

Miller, Gnam Compete in Home State’s Amateur Championship
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Ole Miss Men's Golf rising sophomores Charlie Miller and Jack Gnam put together strong showings at the 2019 Mississippi Amateur Championship over the weekend (June 20-23). The Rebel duo both finished in the top-15 in their home state with Miller placing fourth and Gnam in 12th.
The 104th running of the tournament was hosted by Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Miller, no stranger to summer amateur competition as a three-time winner of the Mississippi Junior Am, placed fourth and stayed in the top 10 throughout the four rounds of play. He grabbed the lead at the halfway point with a pair of under-par rounds (69-65) on the par-71 course. Miller paced the field with 20 birdies over 72 holes, including birdies on holes 1-4 during round two. The Jackson, Mississippi, native went 69-65-74-71—279 (-5) for his second top-10 finish of the summer, his first coming at the Southeastern Amateur (June 12-15) in Columbus, Georgia.
Gnam put together a 12th-place finish thanks to consistent play, going 71-71-71-74—287 (+3). The Ridgeland, Mississippi, native stayed towards the top of the leaderboard throughout the tournament with the help of three even-par rounds. He was one of 15 golfers to record an eagle, holing out for a deuce on the par-4 18th during the second round.
The 72-hole event was cut to the low-60 players after 36 holes. Players earned World Amateur Golf Rankings points for their performances.
