Rebel Golfer Continues to Pile Up Academic Honors

NORMAN, Okla. – Putting a bow on his career as an Ole Miss golfer, Beau Briggs was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Earning the distinction back-to-back years, Briggs becomes the fourth two-time All-America Scholar in program history.

Three Rebels have been two-time All-America Scholars since Chris Malloy took over five years ago. Along with Briggs, Noah West and Ben Wolcott were All-America Scholars in consecutive seasons (2016, 2017). Phil Caravia was first Rebel to earn the honor twice (2000, 2001).

The academic accolades have piled up for Briggs. Not only is he a two-time All-American Scholar, but he was named Google Cloud CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District twice and landed on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll three times throughout his career. Earning his degree in economics with a 3.90 GPA, Briggs found his name on the Chancellor's Honor Roll six times while at Ole Miss. Following graduation, he received a $10,000 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, one of only 126 student-athletes nationwide to be awarded the scholarship.

On the course, Briggs competed in 27 tournaments as a Rebel to collect a letter all four years on campus. During his senior campaign, he paced Ole Miss in stroke average (71.74), top-five finishes (three) and top-10 finishes (four). The best finish of his career was a third-place showing at the 2018 Intercollegiate at The Grove. He tied for fifth at the 2019 Old Waverly Collegiate Championship with a career-low 66 (-6) in the second round, helping the Rebels to a runner-up finish.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
