Rising Sophomore Will Play at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club
PINEHURST, N.C. – Ole Miss men's golfer Jack Gnam will tee it up in the 2019 U.S. Amateur, playing against some of the best amateurs in the world at historic Pinehurst Resort and Country Club (Aug. 12-18).
Gnam becomes the third Rebel in the past two years to compete at the U.S. Amateur. Beau Briggs and Braden Thornberry qualified for the championship at Pebble Beach last August.
The 119th running of the event will be the first time the championship is played on two courses (No. 2 and No. 4 at Pinehurst). Pinehurst has played host to many notable events over the years, most recently the 2014 U.S. Open.
Over 7,000 entries were accepted for the 312-man field. Gnam qualified out of Madison, Mississippi, where he shot a 66-71—137 (-7) at Reunion Country Club and was one of just two players to make it out of the site.
The sophomore will tee off at 8:10 a.m. CT on Pinehurst No. 2 on Monday. His second round is set to begin at 1:25 p.m. CT on Pinehurst No. 4 Tuesday.
Following the two rounds of stroke play, the field will be cut to 64 players for match play to determine the champion. The match play portion of the week will be televised on FS1 and FOX.
