Rebels Display Skills at Red and Blue Scrimmage

Rebels exhibit strong talent at annual event
OXFORD, Miss. --ย ย ย Just eight days out of its season debut, Ole Miss Volleyball gave fans their first look at the 2019 roster at the annual Red and Blue Scrimmage Thursday at Gillom Athletics Performance Center.ย

The squad broke into two teams, where fans could see the nine returners and four of Ole Miss' five new faces exhibit their talents. Defensive specialist Maggie Miller, outside hitter Anna Bair, setter Lauren DeLo, and middle blocker Ava Wampler all logged significant playing time as program newcomers.

After an opening set played to 25, head coach Steven McRoberts then readjusted and rotated to see a variety of lineup combinations, and the Rebels played four short eight-point sets, before wrapping up with another frame to 25.ย

Senior Leah Mulkey showcased some stellar swinging, topping the Rebels' offense. Bair also delivered an impressive performance.ย

Ole Miss opens its 2019 campaign Friday, August 30 with the annual Rebel Invitational, as the Rebels welcome UCF, Rice, and Iowa State to Oxford.ย ย
