Junior Shot Three-Straight 72s to Finish Top-15 Individually

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Ole Miss women's golf team put together a top-3 finish at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. to kick of their 2019-20 season.

The Rebels shot a 3-over 291 in Tuesday's final round for a three-round total of 2-under 862, finishing in a tie for third place with Iowa State. Ole Miss accounted for 172 pars and 40 birdies through 54 holes, both of which were top-5 in the field.

"Overall, I'm very happy with our performance this week, especially since it's our first outing," head coach Kory Henkes said. "There are a lot of positives to take from the last three rounds, including some great individual performances. We have some work to do when we get back to practice to work out some kinks, but we'll be ready for our next event out in Colorado next week."

Junior Julia Johnson led the Rebels on the leaderboard, finishing in 13th place, after three-straight even par 72s. The St. Gabriel, Louisiana, native was bogey-free her first 14 holes in the final round Tuesday before her only two miscues came on holes No. 15 and 16. Dating back to last spring, Johnson has finished top-20 or better in five of the eight events for Ole Miss.

Andrea Lignell, a freshman from Gothenburg, Sweden, went 71-76-71—218 to finish tied for 17th individually in her collegiate debut. Lignell tallied 37 pars over the three rounds to lead the team in that category while carding seven birdies.

Kennedy Swann matched Lignell on the leaderboard after a final round 3-over 75. The senior shot a flawless, career-low 66 in the second round on Monday with four birdies, an eagle and 13 pars. Her 17th place finish marked a career-low as a Rebel for Swann, all while tying career-low 54-hole total of 218 (77-65-75).

Ellen Hutchinson-Kay tied for 32nd to open up her sophomore campaign, going 73-74-74—221.

Pi-Lillebi Hermansson made headlines coming out the gate, firing a career-low 67 in the first round with eight birdies. The senior finished tied for 38th (67-82-74—223).

Next up for the Rebels is the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colorado, Sept. 23-25.
