Postgame Quotes vs. Southeastern Louisiana

Ole Miss 40, SLU 29
OLE MISS HEAD COACH MATT LUKE
"It's good to get a win. Give a lot of credit to them (SLU). We knew going into in that they had some skill players. They tested us and hit us on some big plays, but nothing in life is easy. This was a good lesson to everybody in that locker room that every day we come out to play and it's not going to be easy."
On the finishing the game:
"100%. We have a lot of young guys in that locker room. Nothing in life is easy. You've got to work and fight for everything you get. Especially where we are in our program right now. We're fighting, scraping, and clawing to get everything we can get. Nothing is going to come the easy way."
On Jerrion Ealy:
"I'm really proud of Jerrion. The difference in the game was a big run and the kickoff return for a touchdown. There are some freshmen out there making mistakes, but there's some freshmen out there making big plays too. This is an opportunity in a win to get better. I talked a lot about vision and when you look at the vision we want for our program this is not it, so we're just working to get better and try to build that vision. We want to have a standard and live up to that standard every time we play. No matter who we play."
On missed tackles:
"We just have to go back to work. I knew that they were going to attack us differently than our first two games. They had a little more speed on the outside and tried to take our D-line out of the game by spreading the ball around. And they were certainly able to do that. We've got to look at somethings. Fly to the ball, tackle, and, play with some emotion. We certainly weren't at our best, but give them (SELA) a lot of credit. The did a heck of a job."
On the ability to consistently run the ball:
"I know that there were some times where we didn't get much push. I'll have to look at the tape. It seemed like they were bringing some zero blitzes and pressures and I was just trying to be hard headed instead of throwing a fade against one-on-one coverage. I'll have to go look at the tape. But I was proud on that last drive. Matt (Corral) was able to convert some of those 3rd downs, run the clock, and make it a two-score game."
On the Cal game:
"It's a great non-conference match-up. I think our fans showing up will be big even with an early kick-off. Get in the grove early because we really feed off your energy. To all the fans out there let's show up and lock the Vaught together. It's going to be an early kick, so let's get up and go play."
OLE MISS RUNNING BACK JERRION EALY
"If I'm at the five and I can't make it to the 25, they should have someone else back here. I hit full speed on that first kickoff return a little too early, but on the second one I let it develop and got past the first line, and was able to cut left and then it's just not getting caught."
On learning to play in the SEC:
"There are some good days and some bad days in practice. First game for me was a lot faster than I expected it to be. By game two, it was slowing down a little bit, and then I was able to hit the holes faster and see things I hadn't seen. Now at game three, it's all starting to click."
On being a dual sport athlete:
"The things you want to do in life are going to be the most difficult to achieve. This is something I have wanted to do since I was a little kid. I wanted to play two sports like Bo Jackson in college, and for as long as I can. It will be difficult, but it will be worth it to be in that elite fraternity of people that can say they have done it."
OLE MISS LINEBACKER JACQUEZ JONES
"My coach got on me saying I needed to go down and cover this kick. I saw the field open up and I just took my shot. That's my job, to hit people."
On the linebacker mentality:
"As a linebacker, you have to be hungry. You have to want to hit people. You have to want to play the run and you have to take shots."
On the defensive mistakes:
"Southeastern Louisiana came to play. We underestimated them. When you play a smaller team, you think about taking it easy, but we just had to pin our horns back and play."
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA HEAD COACH FRANK SCELFO
"They did a heck of a job schematically, especially offensively. They did some stuff in the run game that gave us a bunch of problems. I think the four turnovers, that really is the most disappointing thing that took place. We needed to take care of football and we didn't do that. I thought we held on for a while. The first drive we went right down the field and scored and we did a nice job bouncing back second half. We bounced back and got into a one possession game late. I think there are some things that we can build on and work on. But at the same time, we can't make the mistakes that we made today from a turnover standpoint. I've got to make sure we have the right personnel in there and we've got to make sure that every person is doing their job, and then if they aren't doing their job I'm going to get their ass out because we can't make mistakes like that."
