Rebel Wide Receiver One of Eight Added to Watch List for Nation’s Best Receiver
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Ole Miss sophomore Elijah Moore was one of eight receivers added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Wednesday morning.
The award annually recognizes the most outstanding receiver in college football.
The recipient is selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass, is eligible for the award.
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native has a team-high 29 catches for 380 yards and three touchdowns during the Rebels' first four contests. Moore ranks in the top 20 nationally in both receiving yards (380) and receptions per game (7.3).
Moore has seen an increase in his targets every week so far: six vs. Memphis, eight vs. Arkansas, 10 vs. Southeastern Louisiana, and 18 vs. Cal. On the season, Moore has seen 42 targets, second most among SEC WRs. He has caught every catchable pass thrown to him this season and has zero drops on 29 catchable targets, the most by an SEC WR without a drop.
He has played 98.5 percent of his snaps from the slot in 2019. Moore's 373 receiving yards from the slot this season rank second most in the conference. He has been targeted on 29.5% of his pass routes this season, fifth most among SEC WRs.
The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 12, 2019, on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan, which will be televised on ESPN.
