Ole Miss Closes Season with SEC Championships at LSU on Friday Morning
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss associate head coach for cross country Ryan Vanhoy met with members of the media on Monday to preview the upcoming SEC Cross Country Championships at LSU this Friday morning.
Opening Statement
"It is SEC Championship week for cross country. We are running down in Baton Rouge on Friday morning. The women's race starts at 9:05 a.m. CT, the men's race follows at 10 a.m. CT. We feel very lucky and very fortunate to have the chance to compete for a conference championship this season. Obviously, a few months ago I think it was much less clear that this moment would even be coming together for anyone in the conference. Just to have the ability to line up and race and end our season here with a chance to win an SEC Championship is just something that we're very grateful for.
Both teams, our goal is the same as it always is: to put ourselves in a position to compete. We've had a fairly consistent, solid season so far on both sides. I think we've seen some things along the way that we've needed to adjust and work on, and I feel like both groups have put themselves in a position here with the work they've done over the last few months and just the mindset as we round into meet week here is to just get to the starting line and compete to the best of our ability."
