Jillian Zakrzeski Named Ole Miss Army ROTC Cadet of the Month

Success within the Organization, on the Range and in the Classroom Led to Recognition
OXFORD, Miss. – Leadership on the range and outside of the sport led Ole Miss Rifle sophomore Jillian Zakrzeski to be named the Ole Miss Army ROTC Cadet of the Month for March.
Zakrzeski, who recently concluded her second full season with the Rebels, doubles as an active member of the Army ROTC program. She has also been recognized for her academic prowess as part of the Dean's List and SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll.
This season, the Constantia, New York, product fired at least an 1160 aggregate five times for Ole Miss. Two such matches featured impressive air rifle totals of 592 and 593 in January.
Additionally with Ole Miss Army ROTC, Zakrzeski posted a score of 260 out of a maximum 300 points on the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). Her success with the organization will continue with a visit to Advanced Camp at Fort Knox in Kentucky this summer and commission as a Second Lieutenant in May of 2021.
"I joined ROTC because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself," Zakrzeski said. "My Military Science instructors, Captain Jason Clark and Sargent First Class Michael Wade, motivate me because they teach in different styles. SFC Wade brings a lot of first-hand, tactical experience to our class, while CPT Clark is more straightforward and direct. These leadership styles help give a clear understanding and create cohesion within the class."
Zakrzeski hopes majoring in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Law Enforcement, and minors in Military Science and Sociology will lead to a position in the Military Intelligence Corps.
