Rebel Senior Collects Final Ole Miss Golf Win of 20th Century

On this date in Ole Miss Athletics history (April 11), Haymes Snedeker fired a final round 68 (-4) to come back and claim medalist honors at the Billy Hathcock Intercollegiate. The full recap of Snedeker's win can be found below. It was Snedeker's second individual win of his career as well as the final Ole Miss men's golf victory of the 20th century. Snedeker ended his senior season with First Team All-SEC honors, while leading the Rebels to the NCAA Championship alongside teammate Chris Malloy.

OPELIKA, Ala. - Ole Miss senior Haymes Snedeker shot a four-under par 68 to rally from a two shot deficit and win the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate golf tournament Sunday afternoon (April 11, 1999). The Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate was being held at the par-72 Saugahatchee Country Club.

Ole Miss finished Sunday's action with a 284, its best round of the tournament, for a third-place finish. The Rebels finished with a three-over par 867. Auburn took first with a 16-under par 848, while South Carolina finished second with an eight-under 856.

Snedeker entered the final round trailing Auburn's Scott Weatherly by two shots. Snedeker's 68 was tied for the second best round of the day.

Junior Jon Barlett finished tied for 16th after shooting a 71. Troy Muller shot a three-under 69 to finish tied for 23rd, while Phil Caravia tied for 35th after posting a 76. Chris Malloy finished tied for 50th after shooting a 79.
