Jackson Suber Earns PING All-Region Honors

Sophomore Ranked Ninth in the SEC in Stroke Average
NORMAN, Okla. – Ole Miss men's golfer Jackson Suber was named PING All-Region, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Thursday afternoon. Landing on the southeast all-region team, the sophomore earned the honor for the first time in his career.
Playing in all eight tournaments before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus, Suber led the Rebels with a 71.04 stroke average that ranked ninth in the SEC. The Tampa, Florida, native, paced the Rebels on the learderboard in five events, including a trio of top-five finishes. He began his sophomore campaign by placing fourth at the Badger Invitational with an 8-under 208 (69-74-65). The final round 65 tied a career low, a number he'd shoot three times throughout the 2019-20 season. Suber followed the season-opening tournament with a fifth-place showing at the Windon Memorial Classic (70-71-69—210), leading Ole Miss to a runner-up finish. Later in the fall, Suber notched his best 54-hole score as a Rebel, the third time he compiled a three-round total of 206 in his career. He finished 10-under with all three rounds under par (71-65-70), ending the tournament in a tie for fifth.
Overall, Suber posted 16 rounds of par-or-better to lead Ole Miss, which includes eight rounds in the 60s. He finished par-or-better in seven of the eight tournaments. Outside the continental United States, Suber tied for 19th at the Hoakalei Country Club Invitational in Hawaii with a 2-under 214 (69-74-71). Down in Puerto Rico, the sophomore ended the tournament at even par (71-70-75—216).
Suber has played in every tournament on the Ole Miss schedule since arriving on campus. He is the only Rebel to play in all 20 tournaments over the past two seasons. In his first season as a Rebel, Suber earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team and collected a pair of SEC Freshman of the Week accolades.
