Three Ole Miss Doubles Teams Advance to ITA Southern Quarterfinals

Fiquet and Machalova Advance to Singles Round of 16
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Ole Miss women's tennis had a phenomenal day at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, winning all seven of eight doubles matches and six of eight singles matches on Saturday.
The Rebels remained dominant in doubles at the ITA Southern Championships in doubles, earning four victories in the round of 32 and three in the round of 16 on Saturday. The Rebels' doubles teams of Elysia Pool and Anaëlle Leclerq-Ficher, Kelsey Mize and Ludmila Kareisová, and Lillian Gabrielsen and Reka Zadori all advanced to the Quarterfinals of the event by earning two victories each on the day. The Rebels upset two top-eight seeds on the day as Gabrielsen and Zadori defeated Auburn's No. 6 seed Madeline Meredith and Ariana Arseneault in the Round of 32, and Mize and Kareisová won 8-6 versus Mississippi State's No. 3 seed Chloé Cirotte Magda Adaloglou in the Round of 16.
No. 4 Seed Tiphanie Fiquet and Sabina Machalova fell in the Round of 16 after earning a victory in the Round of 32.
The Rebels will face unique opponents in the quarterfinals with the potential that Pool and Leclercq-Ficher will face Mize and Kareisová in the semifinals.
Fiquet and Machalova both won in singles on Saturday to reach the round of 16 of the draw. Tiphanie Fiquet improved to 3-0 in singles this season, defeating Mississippi State's Marta Falceto, 6-0, 6-4. Machalova rolled past Southern Alabama's Lara Van Der Merwe, 6-2, 6-1. Machalova has now won 139 career matches at Ole Miss.
Pool and Kareisová were defeated in the round of 32 in singles in straight-set losses.
Play at the ITA Southern Championships resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT beginning with doubles play.
