Women’s Golf Falls to Duke in East Lake Cup Semifinals

Rebels Drop 4-1 Match Play Decision to Blue Devils
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Ole Miss women's golf team fell just short of returning to the East Lake Cup championship match for the second consecutive year, as the Rebels lost their semifinal matchup against Duke, 4-1 on Tuesday.
Ellen Hume was the lone Ole Miss golfer who was able to capture a victory in her individual match. The Whitwell, England, native defeated Duke's Rylie Heflin by a final score of 4&3, the largest margin of victory on the day.
Hume secured the first match of the day, holding a comfortable lead in her match from hole four onward. Hume would ultimately finish her match with a 4&3 victory, earning the only match win the Rebels grabbed on the day.
Natacha Host Husted, who battled in a tightly contested match that took the full 18 holes to decide, came up just short and would lose her match 2-up, leveling the score at 1-1.
The Blue Devils then got into a rhythm that Rebels couldn't recover from, as Duke would go on to capture victories in all three of the remaining matches to clinch the semifinal and their spot in Wednesday's championship match against No. 1 seed Oklahoma State.
Ole Miss will now play against Arizona for third in the East Lake Cup team competition. Tee times for the Rebels are set to begin at 10:05 a.m. CT.
