Women’s Golf Drops Consolation Match at East Lake Cup

ATLANTA – The Ole Miss women's golf team concluded the East Lake Cup with a 3-2 loss to Arizona in Wednesday's match play consolation round.

Natacha Host Husted and Andrea Lignell were able to come away with wins for the Rebels in their individual matches, but it wasn't enough as Arizona went on to capture third in Atlanta.

The Wildcats were able to jump ahead first, with Ellen Hume dropping her match 3&1 to Arizona's Ya Chun Chang.

Ole Miss was able to battle back with help from freshman Natacha Host Husted, who captured a point back by winning her match 2&1. The win marked Host Husted's first collegiate individual match play victory.

However, Arizona was once again able to jump ahead of the Rebels to make it 2-1, as Chiara Tamburlini fell 4&3 in her match to give the Wildcats the upper hand with just two matches remaining.

Rebels senior Julia Johnson then fell in the fourth match, clinching the result in favor of the Wildcats. Junior Andrea Lignell fought back to earn one last point for the Rebels on the day, winning the fifth and final match 3&2.

Ole Miss will now enter their winter break as a team, with the next tournament the Rebels traveling to being the Superstition Match in Gold Canyon, Arizona, beginning Jan. 23.
