Rebels Open 2022 Schedule with Difficult Field in Arizona
SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. – The Ole Miss women's golf team is set to open their 2022 spring season by traveling to Superstition Mountain, Arizona, to take part in the Rapsodo in the Desert at the Lost Gold Golf Course.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament, is set to begin on Sunday, Jan. 23 and will conclude on Monday, Jan. 24.

McKinley Cunningham (R-Fr.) - Teeing off Hole 1 at 12:40 p.m. CT
-- Averaged a 77.00 stroke average in the fall season
-- Made her collegiate debut at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate
-- Earned new career lows 18-hole (71) and 54-hole (227) scores at the Stephens Cup
-- Finished a career-high 18th overall at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup
-- Earned comeback tie in match play against No. 5 golfer in nation at East Lake Cup
Ellen Hume (Sr.) - Teeing off Hole 1 at 12:48 p.m. CT
-- 74.75 stroke average in the fall season
-- Competed in two tournaments for the Rebels in the 2021 fall season
-- Finished eighth at the East Lake Cup, earning her second career Top-10 finish as a Rebel

-- Earned her first career top-5 finish at the East Lake Cup, tying for second place
-- Finished in the top 20 at the Stephens Cup, ending her tournament tied for 14th
-- Shot the best round for the Rebels on day three of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate with a 68 (-4)
-- Selected to represent Team Sweden at the 2021 Spirit International Golf Championship
Chiara Tamburlini (Jr.) - Teeing off Hole 1 at 1:12 p.m. CT
-- Posted 74.29 stroke average in the fall season
-- Ranked No. 66 individually by Golfweek and No. 74 by Golfstat
-- Fourth place finish at East Lake Cup marked first Top-5 finish since 2020

-- Has earned Top 150 ranking in NCAA by Golfweek (No. 140)

THE COURSE |
Opened in 1999, the Lost Gold Golf Course at the base of Superstition Mountain plays at a total of 6,498 yards and as a par 72. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, alongside his son Jack Jr., the links-style course offers generous fairways and greater shot value to its players due to the smaller greens and strategic bunker placements. The course most notably was host to the 2002 Senior Slam.
REBELS IN THE POLLS |
The Rebels enter the 2022 spring season holding a No. 15 ranking in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, while sitting No. 24 as a team in the Golfstat Team Rankings. Individually, senior Julia Johnson leads the way for the Rebels in the rankings, holding the No. 13 spot in Golfstat's NCAA Women's Rankings. Also holding a place in the Top 100 is junior Chiara Tamburlini, who ranks as the No. 66 golfer in the nation according to Golfweek.
JOHNSON INVITED BACK TO AUGUSTA |
For the second consecutive year, senior Julia Johnson has received an invitation to attend the annual Augusta National Women's Amateur tournament, which is set to take place a week before The Masters takes place in Augusta, Ga. later this spring. Johnson, who was invited to the inaugural event in 2020 prior to its cancellation and took part in the 2021 Amateur last spring, will now look to become the first ever Rebel to attend the event multiple times. Johnson currently sits ranked No. 12 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
SPREADING THE WEALTH |
Over the Ole Miss'' four-tournament fall season, the Rebels saw three different golfers earn finishes in the Top 5, with Julia Johnson (1st - ANNIKA, 4th - Jackson T. Stephens), Andrea Lignell (T2nd - East Lake Cup) and Chiara Tamburlini (T4th - East Lake Cup) each earning top 5 performances in their fall seasons. The Rebels would go on to finish the fall season tied for second in the SEC in top-5 finishers, while also tallying a total of five different top-10 finishers.
