Rebels Cap Fall Season at Beautiful Ocean Club Golf Course

NASSAU, Bahamas – The Ole Miss men's golf team is set to close out their 2021 fall season in the Bahamas for the White Sands Invitational beginning Friday, Oct. 29.

Tournament Schedule
Friday, Oct. 29 – 18 holes (Rebels tee at 7:00 a.m. CT)
Saturday, Oct. 30 – 18 holes
Sunday, Oct. 31 – 18 holes

The Lineup
Jackson Suber (Sr.) - Teeing off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Hole 1

  • Finished tied for sixth at season-opening Blessings Collegiate Invitational (73-65-72–210), the 12th top 10 of his career
  • Ranked No. 11 in PGA TOUR University Rankings
  • Named 2020-21 PING All-American Honorable Mention, becoming the 11th All-American in school history
  • 2021 First Team All-SEC and led the Rebels with a 71.70 stroke average
  • Making 32nd career start, appearing in every tournament since arriving on campus
Kye Meeks (R-Fr.) - Teeing off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Hole 1
  • Competed in his first collegiate tournament with the Rebels at the Blessings Collegiate, where he also recorded his first collegiate eagle on Hole 15
  • Finished with a 3-1 record individually at the SEC Match Play Championship, which included a victory over No. 11 ranked Tyler Johnson of Tennessee
  • Won the prestigious Cotton States Invitational over the summer
  • Ranked as the No. 1 recruit coming out of the state of Mississippi
  • Two-time individual state champion in high school
Evan Brown (Gr.) - Teeing off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Hole 2
  • Finished his first career tournament with the Rebels tied for 27th at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, logging scores of 70-76-76 to finish 6-over par on the week
  • 2020-21 PING All-American Honorable Mention
  • Played in 28 tournaments and posted a school-record 71.85 stroke average over his career at Loyola (Md.)
  • Finished 2020-21 season at Loyola with a team-best 70.90 stroke average, another school record
  • Collected a pair of individual tournament wins in his time with the Greyhounds
Brett Schell (So.) - Teeing off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Hole 2
  • Earned first collegiate top-20 finish at Blessings Collegiate Invitational (T-12th)
  • Nearly set a new career low round and 54-hole total at Blessings, finishing short of both by only one stroke (71-70-73–214)
  • Clinched the Rebels' comeback match play victory over Auburn in the first round of the SEC Match Play Championships with a birdie on 18 to win his match 1-up
  • Recorded a 74.19 stroke average last year, his first season competing for Ole Miss
  • Making his 11th career start with the Rebels
Jack Gnam (Sr.) - Teeing off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Hole 3
  • Posted a stroke average of 73.17 during the 2020-21 season, ranking second on the team
  • Had his best finish of 2020-21 campaign at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate, where he finished tied for 11th with a career-low 54-hole total (65-70-70–205)
  • His opening round of 65 (-6) at the 2020 Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate was a career low
  • Appearing in his 25th tournament as a Rebel
  • Played in eight tournaments in each of his first three seasons on campus

Cecil Wegener - Teeing off at 7:00 a.m. CT on Hole 18
  • Competed in four tournaments during the 2020-21 season, twice in the Rebels' lineup and twice as an individual
  • 2017-18 SEC All-Freshman Team
  • Holds career stroke average of 73.73 over his 27 tournament appearances
  • Has one career tournament win, the 2019 All-American Intercollegiate
  • Has been named to SEC Academic Honor Roll all four years at Ole Miss

The Course
Challenging, masterfully-conceived and stunningly beautiful, the Tom Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club Golf Course offers guests of Atlantis every element for the perfect round. This 18-hole par 72 championship course stretches over 7,100 yards on Atlantis, Paradise Island Oceanside's peninsula, where crosswinds challenge even the most experienced players.

Rebels Enter Golfstat Top 10
Following a strong start to their fall season, Ole Miss cracked Golfstat's Top 10 team rankings. The Rebels found themselves at No. 8 in the national rankings, following finishing in third at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational as well as strong play at the SEC Match Play Championship.

Suber Sits at No.12 in PGA TOUR University Rankings
Senior Jackson Suber found himself in the No. 12 position in PGA TOUR University's most recent Velocity Global Rankings. Suber was able to maintain his lofty spot in the newest rankings thanks to a sixth-place finish at the Blessing Collegiate Invitational earlier in the month, his 12th Top-10 finish of his career. At the conclusion of the season, the top five finishers in the Velocity Global Rankings will earn membership on Korn Ferry Tour. Players finishing sixth through 15th will earn membership on a PGA TOUR international tour.

Meeks Shines at SEC Match Play Championship
In his first taste of collegiate match play golf, Kye Meeks didn't disappoint for the Rebels at the SEC Match Play Championship in Birmingham. The redshirt-freshman finished with an individual record of 3-1 on the week. One of Meeks' trio of match play victories came on day two of the tournament, in which he was able to take down Tennessee's Tyler Johnson, who is currently the No. 11 ranked golfer in the nation according to Golfstat.

Pair of Rebels Crack Golfweek's Top 50
Two golfers from the Ole Miss men's golf team found themselves earning Top 50 spots in Golfweek's latest collegiate rankings on Thursday. Senior Jackson Suber led the charge by earning himself the No. 11 spot in the nation, while sophomore Brett Schell jumped up into the No. 42 spot overall.

Next on Tee
With their tournament in Nassau marking the end of the 2021 fall season, the Rebels enter their winter break with their next tournament coming Feb. 13 for the Puerto Rico Intercollegiate, kicking off what will be a five-tournament spring season that will be capped off with SEC Championships beginning April 20, 2022.
