Horvath Ties Program Record with an 1190

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 4 Ole Miss put together a complete team performance Saturday afternoon, dominating NC State 4725-4635. It marked the Rebels' top score this season and the fourth-best mark in program history.

Sophomore Lea Horvath once again tied the top individual score in school history with another 1190. She and Claire O'Neel had career days for the Rebels. O'Neel fired a new best in smallbore and aggregate to finish with an 1184. Overall, Ole Miss posted the top six scores in the match, with Abby Buesseler, Jillian Zakrzeski, Kristen Derting and Erin Walsh all following Horvath and O'Neel.

The Rebels got off to a dominant start in smallbore. O'Neel turned in a career-high 591 in the discipline, along with Horvath, to pace the field. Buesseler and Derting followed with identical scores of 584 to contribute to Ole Miss' best team score of the season (2350). Breaking down their performances, Buesseler and Horvath both fired perfect prone scores in the discipline.

In air rifle, it was once again Horvath and O'Neel taking over. Horvath ended her day with a blistering 599 for the second straight match, only dropping one shot. O'Neel strung together 30 perfect shots, posting a perfect 300 at the halfway point. She turned in a final score of 593 in air rifle, helping the Rebel counters. Martina Gratz also continued her sharp shooting in the discipline with a 593, followed by Walsh with a 590 to close out the team score.

Buesseler also saw her best air rifle action of the season, firing a 592, although her mark didn't factor into the overall team total. Additionally, Zakrzeski posted a 592, and M'Leah Lambdin posted an impressive 591 in air rifle.

NC State finished with a 4635 (2290 in smallbore and 2345 in air rifle). Ben Salas led the Wolfpack with an 1164, good for seventh overall in the field of 17.

Ole Miss is back in action next weekend, taking on the defending National Champions, Kentucky, on the road in Lexington.
