Rifle Tops Kentucky 4716-4675 On The Road

Derting and Horvath Lead Rebels to Top-5 Win
LEXINGTON, Ky. – On the road for a top-5 GARC matchup, No. 5 Ole Miss took care of business, outshooting No. 2 Kentucky, 4716-4675.
Kristen Derting and Lea Horvath powered the Rebels past the defending national champion Kentucky, firing identical aggregate scores of 1184 in the victory. With the 4716 team mark, Ole Miss topped the 4700 plateau for the fourth straight match.
Ole Miss jumped out to an early lead, firing a team score of 2345 in smallbore. Horvath and Derting went one-two with scores of 592 and 591, respectively. Derting added a perfect prone score in her performance along with Buesseler, who finished with a 584. Ole Miss has now had one athlete fire a perfect prone mark in each of its last four matches. Claire O'Neel and Jillian Zakrzeski rounded out the scoring for the counters with identical marks of 578.
Martina Gratz helped Ole Miss close out the day strong, contributing a 595, the top score of the afternoon. Derting and Horvath followed with scores of 593 and 592, and O'Neel added a 591 to bring the team's total to 2371.
With Kentucky's top two shooters off competing internationally, the Wildcats put together a solid team performance, but it wasn't enough to take down the Rebels. Mitchell Nelson and Richard Clark were the top two individuals for UK, firing scores of 1175 and 1173, respectively.
The Rebels are off until Nov. 20, when they wrap up their fall slate at Memphis.
