Rifle Wraps Up Fall Slate at Memphis

Rebels Looking to End 2021 on a High Note
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Shooting its final match of 2021, No. 4 Ole Miss rifle looks to big up another big GARC victory over Memphis on Saturday.
Heading into their final match of 2021, the Rebels are 5-1 with a strong 4712.7 three-score average. Ole Miss is coming off a strong homestand and a big win on the road over defending national champion Kentucky two weeks ago. Kristen Derting and Lea Horvath led the Rebels to victory in that match, firing identical scores of 1184.
Horvath paces the squad and ranks second in the nation with an aggregate average of 1186.4. This fall, the sophomore has tied the school record twice with an 1190. Juniors Claire O'Neel and Derting have also put together a strong fall, each posting scores in the 1180s for the Rebels. Derting has established herself as one of the top smallbore performers in the country, ranking eighth nationally with a 588.0 average. O'Neel, on the other hand, has stepped up in air rifle, checking in with the 13th best mark in the NCAA (594.0).
The Rebels also have a pair of seniors who have contributed as counters this season. Abby Buesseler is coming off her best two matches of the season, while Jillian Zakrzeski has been consistent for Ole Miss all season with an 1171.2 average.
Memphis is looking to pick up its first victory of the season. The Tigers are averaging an aggregate mark of 4638.8 through five matches. Junior Angeline Henry paces the squad with a score of 1165.4.
