Rebels Win Two Singles Matches in Final Day of Fall Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Ole Miss women's tennis won two of four singles matches to wrap up the Roberta Alison Fall Classic at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium on Saturday.
 
All four competing Rebels played one singles match each on Saturday at Alabama in separate compass draws. The full draws were not completed over the weekend due to unfavorable weather conditions on both Friday and Saturday. Ole Miss student-athletes played one of two scheduled matches on Saturday as the opening matches of the day were delayed due to rain.
 
Lillian Gabrielsen and Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher earned victories for the Rebels. Gabrielsen defeated Alabama-Birmingham's Sydney Clarke in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7). Leclercq-Ficher won in straight sets versus South Alabama's Yu Fujoka, 6-2, 7-6 (2). Gabrielsen improved to 3-3 this season and Leclercq-Ficher improved to 5-2 this fall.
 
Elysia Pool dropped a tough match to Indiana's Alex Staiculescu. After losing the first set, 2-6, Pool bounced back to take the second set, 6-4. Staiculescu defeated pool, 10-5, in the super tiebreak to win the match.
 
Rachel Krzyzak faced a tough test in Wisconson's No. 113 Xinyu Cai. Krzyzak fought hard in a straight-set defeat versus the first ranked opponent of her Ole Miss career. Cai defeated Krzyzak, 7-5, 6-2.
