Volleyball Prepares for Ranked Matchup in Knoxville

OXFORD, Miss.— Ole Miss head volleyball coach Kayla Banwarth met with members of the media Monday morning as the Rebels ready for a road test at No. 22 Tennessee this Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

Opening statement…
"Just want to start by sending some good vibes down to Coach Mott and the soccer team down in Orange Beach, I'm excited to watch them tomorrow. All the best of luck to them and hopefully they keep rolling. Couple of good wins for us over a high RPI team in South Carolina this weekend. To come out with two wins was awesome and a huge step towards us making the tournament this year. Probably the biggest match of the year is our next match at Tennessee Sunday. I think they're top-10 RPI and currently ranked 20 in the country. If we can get that win, that's going to give us a lot of hope to make the tournament. Big weekend for us and then of course next week against LSU will be big as well, against an LSU team heating up and has two very powerful hitters in Kylie Deberg and Taylor Bannister. If we can get some wins in the next three matches then I think we're going to be sitting in a pretty good spot for the tournament, so we have to keep working hard every day and keep that goal in mind."

On bouncing back from the losing streak…
"I saw a lot of poise, a lot of calmness in tough moments. That was something that was really nice to see. A lot of composure when the match is getting tight. They've been playing really loose the last four matches, and that's been great to see. Prior to the Mizzou series we had a lot of uptight matches and a lot of matches where we were trying to play outside ourselves a little bit. For them to play loose and enjoy playing with each other and having fun was good to see."
