Fiquet Wins in Three Sets, Mize/Kareisová fall to No. 1 Seed

SAN DIEGO – Ole Miss women's tennis standout Tiphanie Fiquet remained undefeated this season by winning in the opening round of the ITA National Fall Championships. Rebels doubles duo Kelsey Mize and Ludmila Kareisová fell in straight sets in the round of 32 on Thursday.

ITA Southern Regional champion Fiquet improved to 8-0 this fall by defeating Michigan's Kari Miller in the singles round of 32. Fiquet jumped ahead early in the match, taking the first set, 6-2. Miller shifted momentum, claiming the second set, 6-2. Fiquet reversed course and dominated the third set, 6-1, and won the match. Fiquet, ranked No. 69 in the ITA Preseason Rankings, upset Miller, who is ranked No. 31. Fiquet improved to 4-0 versus ranked opponents this season and has defeated three players ranked in the top-31.
