Rebels Conclude Fall Season on Sunday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Ole Miss women's tennis competed in its final team competition of the fall, the John Cade Cade Invitational this weekend. The Rebels won 17 total matches at the event finalizing on Sunday.
 
The tournament was divided into two days of open doubles competition on Friday and Saturday, and six singles compass draws consisting of eight players playing one singles match per day across the weekend.
 
Ole Miss' Rachel Krzyzak and Elysia Pool each reached the singles finals in their respective draws. Krzyzak, the No. 1 seed in the Black draw, defeated Denver's Toni Nelson and Mississippi State's Alexandra Mikhailuk in the first and second rounds prior to falling to the Bulldogs' Chloe Cirotte on Sunday. Krzyzak took the first set over Cirotte, 6-2, but dropped the second set, 4-6, and the third, 1-6. Pool, the No. 1 seed in the Silver Draw, earned dominant victories over Xavier's Natalie Moyer and Denver's Camille Verden-Anderson in the first and second rounds. No. 2 seed Rosie Garcia Ross of Georgia Tech defeated Pool, 6-4, 5-7, 6-0, in the draw finals on Sunday.
 
The Rebels competed well in doubles throughout the event, winning four of six matches on Friday and all three matches on Saturday. Pool and Reka Zadori won all three of their doubles matches.
 
In singles, ITA No. 27 Sabina Machalova earned a come-from-behind victory on Sunday versus Georgia Tech's No. 92 Carol Lee on Sunday. The two competed in a pick-up match in the Bully Draw (a catch-all to avoid teammates competing against each other). After dropping the first set, 2-6, Machalova won the second set, 6-2, and the third, 6-3, to defeat Lee. Machalova won two of three singles matches in the event to end the fall with a 9-5 individual record.
 
The Rebels will now set sights on the spring season, beginning in early 2022.
