Rifle Inks Virginia State Champion Emma Pereira to NLI

OXFORD, Miss – Ole Miss rifle continues to add depth as head coach Marsha Beasley announced the signing of Emma Pereira to the class of 2022.

Pereira joins the Rebels from Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she is the co-captain of the Patriot Shooting Club of Virginia. A well-rounded shooter, Pereira captured the 2021 Smallbore and Air Rifle State Titles. She was also the American Legion 3P Air Rifle Individual State Champion this past season. Pereira was instrumental in helping her club team finish as the 2021 American Legion 3P Air Rifle National Runner Up as well.

Off the range, Pereira is a member of the National Honor Society, Civil Air Patrol, Aquarium Club, Relay for Life, and Red Cross Club. At Ole Miss, she plans to pursue a degree in Sports Administration with the hopes of one day coaching junior shooters.

"I fell in love with Ole Miss on my first visit last summer," said Pereira. "I can see myself excelling and enjoying life as an Ole Miss Rebel."

For Pereira, rifle is a family affair. Her father, David, shot on the varsity rifle team at the U.S. Naval Academy. Pereira looks to follow in his footsteps, competing at the collegiate ranks. She will join Julianna Hays in the class of 2022.
