Rebels Lose to Tigers in Late Match Drama
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 17 Ole Miss (1-3, 0-0 SEC) lost 4-3 to Memphis (2-0, 0-0 AAC) in a very close match on Monday.
The competition was decided by the only three-set match of the day between Ole Miss' Simon Junk and Memphis' Oscar Cutting. With the match tied 3-3, Junk dropped the second set to force a match-deciding third. Junk would lose the match 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, giving Memphis a 4-3 victory over the Rebels.
Winning first in singles for the Rebels, Finn Reynolds beat Memphis' Jan Pallares 6-2, 6-1. Reynolds now has a three-match win streak in singles for the second time in his dual career.
John Hallquist Lithén won his first collegiate match via straight-sets by defeating Memphis' Jeremy Taylor 6-3, 6-3. Lithén improved to 2-1 this season.
No. 62 Tim Sandkaulen, Nikola Slavic and Jakob Cadonau were defeated in straight sets by the Tigers.
In doubles, the Rebels won two of three matches to claim the opening point. No. 7 Reynolds and Sandkaulen took care of business on Court No. 1, winning 6-3 over Memphis' Cutting and David Stevenson. Sandkaulen now has 79 career doubles victories, tied for seventh in Ole Miss program history. Brady Draheim and Junk clinched doubles for the Rebels winning 6-4 versus the Tigers' James Story and Jeremy Taylor. Draheim and Junk improve to 3-0 this season.

Ole Miss faces TCU in a home match at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday. The Horned Frogs are currently ranked No. 3 in the Oracle/ITA national rankings.
