Rebels Fall to Horned Frogs in Great Team Effort

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 20 Ole Miss (1-4, 0-0 SEC) lost to No. 3 TCU (6-0, 0-0 Big 12) in a highly competitive match on Sunday.

In similar fashion to Ole Miss' last match, a 4-3 defeat to Memphis on Monday, the Rebels took TCU to the wire in another 4-3 loss. The Rebels won the most matches off of TCU this season.

Tied 3-3 overall in the match, Finn Reynolds won the second-set tiebreak 7-5 over TCU's No. 47 Luc Fomba to force the ultimate set of the dual. Reynolds fell behind 3-0 to begin the third, eventually losing the match 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-1. Reynolds started at No. 1 singles for the first time this season.

The Rebels won matches at singles No. 3, 4 and 5. Nikola Slavic earned his third ranked win of the season by defeating TCU's No. 113 Sander Jong in two tiebreakers. Slavic won in straight sets 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7). Simon Junk won 7-5, 6-2 against the Horned Frogs' Tomas Jirousek. John Hallquist Lithén won first for the Rebels, defeating Bertus Kruger 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

Losing in three-set matches, No. 62 Tim Sandkaulen fell to No. 21 Alastair Gray and Jakob Cadonau lost to Juan Martin. Both Sandkaulen and Cadonau won the first set before relinquishing sets two and three to TCU.

In doubles, Ole Miss dropped the opening point by falling in two of three matches. Winning for the Rebels, No. 7 Reynolds and Sandkaulen defeated Fomba and Gray, 7-5. Playing No. 2 doubles for the first time this season, Brady Draheim and Junk lost 6-2 to No. 24 Jong and Tadeas Paroulek. In the deciding doubles match, Cadonau and Slavic lost 7-5 to Kruger and Martin at No. 3 doubles. The doubles point proved crucial to deciding the match outcome as Ole Miss and TCU split 3-3 in singles.
